Experiences

Located just 20 minutes west of Copenhagen by train, Roskilde serves as an alluring gateway to Denmark's medieval and Viking past. Once the nation's political and ecclesiastical hub, the town is dominated by the twin spires of Roskilde Cathedral. This UNESCO World Heritage site is the final resting place of nearly forty Danish monarchs, displayed inside intricate chapels spanning Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles.

Down on the shores of the scenic Roskilde Fjord, the Viking Ship Museum displays five genuine 11th-century vessels excavated from the seabed. Visitors can watch master boatbuilders carve timber using traditional tools or take a seasonal excursion on replica longboats onto the water.
