Experiences

Situated on the banks of the River Foyle, Derry is the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of fortified architecture in Western Europe. Built between 1613 and 1618, the intact stone ramparts offer a scenic walkway above the city's historic core, flanked by 17th-century watchtowers and historic cannons.

Derry played a pivotal role in modern Irish history, notably during the civil rights movement of the late 20th century. Today, visitors can cross the elegant Peace Bridge, explore the Bogside murals, and soak in the legendary hospitality of its lively music pubs.
